Is there a drivers pack for Win 10 available for the Inspire pre-config mini PC?

Foobar2000 still does not recognize the portable drive, but CDburnerXP does if I use a powered USB hub.

I just purchased a new Access3 64gb model and it came with a default BIOS password. 0000 did NOT work!

a: why would you set a default password? this is unnecessary and a pain in the butt for consumers to deal with
b: why would you not include the password in the documentation that comes with the computer?!?!
c: why do you not document the necessary keys to get into the Boot Menu, BIOS Setup, etc. on these systems!
d: how can I reset this unit and get into the BIOS!?

I’m seriously reconsidering our purchase and we were looking to buy quite a few of these systems.

Hello Vince,

Thanks for reaching out to us and I am happy that we were able to get this sorted for you. Just wanted to address the rest of your questions.

The default password was set to allow access to a feature which allows us to control/change the BIOS settings from within the Windows Operating System by running remote commands to execute batch files that will make the requested changes (This allows further granular control which can be automated or deployed through SCCM for example). (The software package for this can be provided on request)

We’ve recently made the change to the BIOS to have a default password, updates to the documentation will follow.

Thanks for visiting our forums!

Sometimes Windows will fail to properly pull the Windows product key from the BIOS, so we must force the process. You may first try using the ‘Troubleshoot’ link at the top of the Windows Activation panel, if that does not work you may open a command prompt (click on Start-> enter cmd), and enter the following command: wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

This command will return the product key, then you may click on the ‘Change product key’ link at the lower half of the Windows Activation Panel, and copy/paste the key. Windows will activate at this point.

Hello,

So it sounds like the CD Burner draws all of it’s power from the USB port? Our device (like every other device) only provides 5v and .5A from the USB ports. It’s likely your drive needs 5v and 1A (by using a split USB cable). If so then yes a powered USB hub will be necessary to use a Mouse/keyboard and additional peripheral.

Hello

We currently do not have a driver pack available for the Inspire, however I will see if we can create one. (I will post the link to it here once it’s ready).

All of the drivers for the Inspire can be pulled from the Microsoft Driver Store through Windows Update. A vanilla copy of Windows 10 will already have the network drivers for both the LAN and WLAN.

Thanks for the Update.

I will say I have noticed in a few instances that sometimes the image taken from acronis will not necessarily match 1:1 (but will otherwise work). The solution was to allow it to adjust/resize partitions when re-applying (back to the same system it was taken from… why does it need to readjust? I didn’t dig further…).

I will note however that if you took the image from one Access3 and tried applying it to another, there is sometimes a tiny variance in drive’s total available space, and its enough to cause errors in many imaging solutions (Again the fix is to just allow them to resize/adjust the partitions to fit on the disk, simple enough).

Just to confirm, the original PSU provides adequate power and the unit is able to function properly?

If so, we have to assume that every issue is predicated on the fact that the original PSU is not being used.

What kind of equipment are you using to measure the power/line quality going to the device from your battery packs/alternate power sources?

It sounds to me like the smaller battery pack provides a better/more stable current, and the solution is as you suggested, the larger pack needs to be filtered.

Load alternative OS issue

I have been loading a Linux based OS (Stratodesk) onto Byte 3’s 4/32 for over a year now without incident.
Just received a new shipment of 4/64 Byte 3’s and am having an issue.

I set BIOS to Intel Linux, Set to boot from flash drive. Which is what I have been doing for the other units we have purchased.
Hardware boots. Then just a static cursor in the top left corner. Never boots from the drive.
Remove the drive, reboot, and it boots to the installed Windows.

I am using the same flash drive I used on the other units we have purchased.

Any suggestions?

Correction: nothing to do with additional power, it must be ran as an administrator. Sorry for the confusion and it is a good point to note the max .5a from the usb ports.
Just to be clear, running foobar2k as admin recognizes the portable drive and can record just fine.

Can you fix the ridiculous login that requires clicking a link from my email?

I understand verifying an email on sign up, but having to verify the email every login is a pain.
I have this site bookmarked, but cannot use the bookmark because of the requirement to always verify the login via the email link.
This behavior started around late December. Please fix.
Thanks

Thanks for the head’s up. It seems that our security had been set a bit too strict. We will be re-evaluating the service.

We understand Windows has an ever growing demand for space, and they have made it increasingly difficult to disable updates. Fortunately there are third party solutions that allow us to control Updates.

https://greatis.com/stopupdates10/

This is one such solution.

We regret that such a solution is necessary, however we are no longer producing 32GB devices to mitigate this issue in the future.

Thanks for stopping by, and we appreciate the feedback on the forums.

Shouldn’t be an issue. Just keep in mind if you want a decent desktop resolution you’ll need to terminate the HDMI port.

I pulled a unit off the shelf and had no issues creating a usb/installing CloudReady ( 78.4.3 ). Video playback could be better (perhaps it could be improved with some software tweaks but I’m not familiar enough with the OS). Lan and WLan worked as well.
