Transfer Windows from 32Gb internal to 220Gb internal SSD

I would like to transfer Windows from the default drive c: to my SSD drive that shows up as E:/. I’m hoping that it will improve performance to give Windows more cache space etc. I have set E:/ to be the default drive for installing programs, but I’ve only had the device for a few days and it’s already at 20+Gb out of 28 available.
I have read Azulle’s response to dmteerlink’s posting and grasp the concept of using “partitionwizard” to get Windows to the SSD drive. However, I have unfortunately put all my data files and installed Office and other programs on the E:/ drive. Is it possible to get Windows over there and make that drive bootable without having to reformat the drive and lose all data?
Thanks for any advice.

Hello David,

I am very sorry to read that, we can try a factory restore to discard software problems, please find the instructions for the factory restore:

1 – Download our factory restore media file from our FTP: ftp://ftp.azulletech.com/Recovery/Byte3/Byte3_Win10_1803.zip
2 – Prepare a USB drive, has to be formatted as NTFS and named WINPE
3 – Decompress the restore file and copy all files inside the new folder to the root of the USB drive.
4 – Insert the USB on one of the ports, and boot from it. In order to do that start tapping the DEL key as soon as you turn on the device. Once in the BIOS (the blueish screen) move to the last tab Save & Exit and override the boot selecting your USB.
5 – Wait that the process finish, reboot the computer and you will be received with the new Windows

You can watch this video from the Factory restore for the Quantum units (the main difference with them is that they use FAT32, you need to use NTFS) as a visual idea:

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you.

I bought a HP S700 M.2 SDD and installed it, then followed your instructions to use Partition Magic to copy the OS from the original drive to the M.2. It worked very well.

However since the free version doesn’t provide any GUID table support, I wonder – will the drive still function properly?

I ask this because the Win 10 1803 update was halted on the original drive due to lack of disk space, but it would try to work you through it.
On the new drive it shows it did a partial update, but won’t complete. I was wondering if that is a problem with the correct privs, or what. Suggestions?

Corrupted SSD after Windows 10 Updates failed due to insufficient storage

My Byte 3 crashed after the installation of an M.2 SSD and dup’ing the 29GB system “disk” to the M.2 based on other posts on this forum. I had to add storage since the device couldn’t complete the Win 10 1803 update on the original drive due to lack of disk space.
At first it looked like it worked, but the M.2 became corrupted once Windows “fixed” then proceeded with the updates. It started doing a PXE boot at some point, and the updates started to halt in the middle of PowerShell update scripts. It went downhill from there.

Question: Is there a firmware update available for the Byte3?
And,
Should I just undo/remove all the previous WIndows updates and hope a more current & comprehensive one will work?

Hello dmteerlink,

It should work fine. Please run the Disk Cleanup software and then try to run the Windows Update again.

Hello dmteerlink,

We are very sorry for the inconvenience. It sounds like the BIOS couldn’t see the Windows Boot Manager or for some reason it changed the order of the boot options.

Is there a firmware update available for the Byte3?

We have available the 1893 version and we are planing to release the new firmware (1809) on Dec. Meanwhile you can always install the latest version directly from the MS servers. Please use the follow video as tutorial on how to perform a regular Windows installation:

Installing Ubuntu on microSD card

I’ve been trying all day to install Linux on my microSD card to maintain the factory windows install on the internal storage. I get Linux installed seemingly well enough to the microSD via flash drive but it boots to the grub> prompt and never to the desktop.

I’ve tried lubuntu 16.04 and well as the azulle iso for the access plus: https://azulletech.com/topic/install-ubuntu-quantum-device/

I’ve tried installing in “UEFI mode”, disabling secure boot and fast boot in the BIOS…I’m starting to think it’s not possible to boot a linux OS from a mirco SD card with the access 3.

Can anyone confirm or enlighten me?

UPDATE: The Azulle Support team responded – which I must say they’ve been very helpful – and they confirmed that booting from the SD card is not supported for their devices.

Azulle Access Plus

Red light on once power source provided, press power ON, the light turns BLUE for a moment, then turns RED again right away. Please help!

I bought this PC Stick several months ago for use in a pinch so I would not need to always carry a laptop in my briefcase. So, I have used it once to set it up, then put it in my attache case for that eventual need. Today I pulled it out and it is useless. Not a good showing for Azulle pc stick….. not at all dependable.
